cucharada = cuchara sopera colmada
cucharadita = cuchara de postre
8 costillas

photo Celebration, not Greed: Yesterday mundana finished her english exams… so i bought a box of little “paines au chocolat” (called “garrotillos de chocoloate”, here in Pamplona) at Beatriz’s in Estafeta street. You should try them if you ever come to Pamplona… as well as “Churros” (strips of fried dough) from “La Mañueta” (only available during San Fermin and in October weekends)

i’m too stubborn and proud to go on food stamps, even though i would have 100-200$ a month for groceries if i went on them. i thoroughly enjoy the challenge of making cheap but delicious meals, like what i just ate a few moments ago. i also get a kick out of using my gypsy ways of trading things for food/booze/coffee/tea/cigarettes/etc. or just getting them for free.
for dinner tonight i walked to the co-op and bought some fresh asparagus and a lemon. $5 meal. i steamed the asparagus with lemon squeezed all over it, added some seasoning salts and pepper, then threw on some parmesan cheese. it tasted quite nice, you should try it some time.

u can buy green asparagus (called “esparragos trigueros”) here in Spain for 1 €. Cut them in 2 and sauté them in a pan or a wok with a little of olive oil (2-3 minutes). Put in a dish and spread a little bit of cooking salt over it. Yummmy.
If you ever go to Barcelona go and eat at “Ciudad Condal” Restaurant, you can try this and a lot more of delightful “tapas” for a reasonable price.
